In Beirut, determined more strongly than usual by external parameters. Topography, limits the expansion of the city, the after-effects of the war on the architectural heritage are unmistakable, growth pressure and economic interests affect the historical buildings.

The various urban building blocks of the city bear witness to the diversity of the city, but also to the segregation of soci- ety: Villas in the mountains, con- ference and hotel complexes on the coastline, Italian Renais- sance style building in the cen- ter stand beside the 1960‘s ar- chitecture and slums.

Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, has spectacular nature, rich religious legacy and vibrant culture. It also faces series of problems: lack of public infra- structure, privatization of public space, corrupt politics, or the refugee crisis. We will observe, map, critically evaluate and visualize these various layers.

Topic of the session in 2020 is the transformation of prefabricated settlements in Irkutsk / Russia.

Dabei geht es u.a. um die Bauleitplanung (Flächen- nutzungsplan, Bebauungs- plan) und deren Sicherung so- wie um die sonstige bauliche Nutzung von Grundstücken.
